Classes and Staff

As a one-and-a-half form entry school (with 45 pupils in each year group), it is not possible to keep classes together throughout the years. To create balanced and supportive learning environments, we carefully consider a range of factors when organizing classes, such as gender balance, friendships, educational needs, and pupil premium eligibility. Occasionally, we may also separate pupils for social reasons to ensure positive relationships and wellbeing.
If your child is concerned about being split from friends, please reassure them that there will be plenty of opportunities to mix during break times, lunchtimes, assemblies, and whole-school activities. Teachers within each Key Stage plan collaboratively, so all pupils—whether in split or whole-year classes—follow the same curriculum and learning objectives. Our experience shows that children settle quickly, make new friends, and develop valuable social skills.
Additionally, the layout of our school building encourages regular interaction between classes, unlike many schools where pupils remain isolated in single classrooms. This unique structure helps us maintain a warm, inclusive community where children see and support each other every day.
For more information on our curriculum, please visit our curriculum area.

Mrs Halai works as a KS2 writing moderator. This involves her visiting different schools and discussing writing judgements with the teachers at the other schools. Her training is reviewed annually, and this supports us in making sure that we are always evaluating our own writing curriculum correctly.
